YAMAMOTO GENDAI is proud to present the exhibition [YAMAMOTO GENDAI
Future Feature vol.4 THE THIRD].
This exhibition features two emerging young painters, Kaori Kobayashi
and Natsumi Hirakawa.
Kobayashi conscientiously depicts somewhat impassive figures in
space that carry a disquieting atmosphere.
Hirakawa paints strange yet humorous people with prompt brush strokes
in a daydream like environment.
The exhibition is focused on the artists’ ability that express neither
“I” nor “you” but a glimpse of “The Third”, as what could be in
reference to Emmanuel Levinas’ concept about “the other”.
What appears to be ordinary at first glance soon turns into something
absurd and unfamiliar.
“The third” which failed to be recognized as neither “I” nor “you”
revels itself quietly through their works. |
